Open Game Two Thread (McCovey Chronicles)

Posted October 23, 2008 at 4:53 pm

I wish I knew two guys named Phil and two guys named Ray so I could goad them into a knife fight. After the blood cleared, I’d empty my savings account and put money on the team that shared a name with the winner. City of Brotherly Love sure to let Rollins have it (SFGate Sports: San Francisco Giants)

Posted October 23, 2008 at 12:00 am

Jimmy Rollins will hear from his good friends in Philadelphia on Saturday. Bank on it. Oh, there will be love in with the loathing; in Philly, there’s always a little of the corrective therapy about their booing. Sometimes very little. And it isn’t always…

Open Letter to the Philadelphia Phillies (McCovey Chronicles: Front Page Posts)

Posted October 9, 2008 at 11:28 am

Dear Phillies,
I’m starting to wonder if this burgeoning appreciation for your franchise was always there, but it just took this NLCS to really bring it out. I’m a fan. The Philadelphia Phillies are my team for the next week or so. I’m going to bleed pink, or fuschia, or snapdragon red, or whatever the hell that color is. I will refrain making Rocky or chesse …

The Ballad of Fred Lewis (McCovey Chronicles: Front Page Posts)

Posted September 11, 2008 at 2:24 pm

Fred Lewis was drafted in 1974, and he’d been a San Francisco Giants prospect for 33 years prior to this season. At least, that’s what it felt like. Tim Lincecum threw strikes all day, and San Francisco’s entire offense clicked in Omar Vizquel’s season debut.
