Resolution for the Offseason (McCovey Chronicles)

Posted November 7, 2008 at 12:58 pm

WHEREAS: I would be entirely fine with Travis Ishikawa starting at first against right-handers, and Josh Phelps starting at first against left-handers. An upgrade would be fantastic, but a Phelshi platoon would give the Giants an opportunity to see if the Ishikawa’s resurgence was for real.
WHEREAS: I have no problem trying Pablo Sandoval for 100 games at third next season, with Kevin Frandsen an option …

Posted September 16, 2008 at 11:58 am

In the past, I’ve held that Randy Winn, while a good player, just doesn’t fit with the Giants. See, there’s this kid named Nate Schierholtz, and, well, you’ve done well, Randy. Really, you have, but, you know…. It’s not you. It’s me! Best of luck in your future endeavors.
That might have been short-sighted, though. It was easy to believe in 2006, as Winn was abysmal. …

Pack Your Bags, Eugenio. (Bay City Ball)

Posted May 21, 2008 at 6:22 am

Hot off the heels of a nail biting win over the Purple Ones, the Giants made a roster change involving the ever-speedy Eugenio Velez.

5/20/08: Mile High Anxiety (El Lefty Malo)

Posted May 20, 2008 at 9:06 pm

Giants 6, Rockies 5: Call it the Education of Brian Wilson. When you get all geeked up trying to close a game in the ninth, throwing harder harder harder doesn’t necessarily work. He nearly blew the save because he overthrew…

Down on the Farm: Pablo Sandoval (Giants Cove)

Posted May 20, 2008 at 3:25 pm

In a system relatively devoid of position player prospects, one player has risen above this modem and given the Giants a legitimate talent. Pablo Sandoval, known lovingly by any in the Giants community as “Pablito,” is tearing up the California League in San Jose, sporting a robust line of .409/.469/.708 to go along with [...]

Rockies 4, Giants 3: Is it my imagination, or is Vinnie Chulk the king of making one bad pitch? Pat Misch was throwing a gritty game, got into a spot of trouble in the sixth, and Bochy brought in Chulk…
