Posted September 6, 2008 at 12:00 amSALT LAKE CITY – The River Cats have defined themselves this season as the Pacific Coast League’s premier power hitting team. Still, for a squad that has hit 177 home runs this season, the past two games against the Salt Lake Bees have been pretty special.
Salt Lake starter Shane Loux gave up four earned runs in three innings Friday night.

The River Cats used the fundamental elements of victory – pitching, defense, power and teamwide contributions – to defeat the Salt Lake Bees 8-3. The Pacific Coast League Pacific Conference championship series is tied 1-1.

We’re 50 minutes from the scheduled first pitch and there’s a heavy thunderstorm moving through. The tarp is on the field and batting practice was canceled. What few fans are here are gathered up top near the concourses.

After two hours, just five innings had been completed, but before three hours had passed, the River Cats had a 9-3 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies.
