Quick update from Kansas City. … Tonight’s series opener might be in serious jeopardy. We’re 50 minutes from the scheduled first pitch and there’s a heavy thunderstorm moving through. The tarp is on the field and batting practice was canceled. What few fans are here are gathered up top near the concourses.
With one doubleheader already [...]

Grizzlies top River Cats by two touchdowns (SacBee -- Sacramento River Cats)

Posted August 31, 2008 at 12:00 am

River Cats manager Todd Steverson said he didn’t agree but it sure looked like Lenny DiNardo was taking a hard hit (or several, for that matter) Saturday night to save the team’s bullpen from abuse.

Posted August 29, 2008 at 11:05 pm

Joe Mauer had five of Minnesota’s season-high 20 hits as the Twins absolutely demolished the A’s 12-2 Friday night at the Coliseum.
Jack Cust provided the lone highlight for the A’s with a two-run homer, his 24th of the season.
Dan Meyer’s error in the second inning meant that only two of the six runs that scored in the top of the second innning were earned, but …

Limping along (Chin Music)

Posted August 12, 2008 at 4:02 pm

Gonna be a short one today, because let’s face it, there’s not a whole lot to discuss at this point. The A’s are horrible offensively, and that fact is starting to burden the team’s pitching and defense. To me, the best embodiment of where this team is right now came when Detroit scored its final [...]

It’s Really Not As Bad As We Think (Athletics Nation: Front Page Posts)

Posted August 6, 2008 at 1:02 pm

Well, maybe it is.  At least right now.  But I never really thought the A’s were going to compete for the AL West in 2008.  I thought this was a team that Billy Beane was building for the future while hoping it wouldn’t be a complete failure on the field this season.  A lot things happened to make the team worse than most thought, …
