Rickey Henderson Should be the First Unanimous Hall of Famer (Athletics Nation: Front Page Posts)

Posted October 7, 2008 at 4:00 am

It takes 75% approval to make it in, and so far, the record is Tom Seaver, who was named on 425 of 430 ballots, …

Inelastic demand (new A's ballpark)

Posted August 28, 2008 at 8:18 pm

In Part II of the AN/Wolff interview, out popped the most curious exchange (emphasis mine):Blez: I’m going to get to the tarp and the Coliseum a little later, but how do you sell a team that is in rebuilding mode to a market that at times can be ambivalent? The Coliseum wasn’t even selling out when the A’s …

Lewis Wolff Athletics Nation Interview: Part I (Athletics Nation: Front Page Posts)

Posted August 25, 2008 at 7:00 am

Lewis Wolff, the managing general partner of the Oakland Athletics, was kind enough to sit down and do an interview with me last week.  The interview is long and pretty much covers all aspects of your team.  I want to just publicly thank him for giving me nearly two hours of his time and blatant honesty.
So rather than comment more on it, I’ll just let …

Catfish Stew: QuickLink (Catfish Stew)

Posted August 11, 2008 at 4:49 pm

You think steroid king Barry Bonds is a cancer to the sport? He’s got nothing on Zog Larson, who may be in a major league uniform sooner than you think.

Wrap: Game 117 - Tigers 6, A’s 1 (Athletics Nation: Front Page Posts)

Posted August 10, 2008 at 1:18 pm

Greg Smith now has a cumulative 2008 record of 5-11. I would venture to say that, in general, he probably deserves at least 3 more wins and 3 fewer losses. However, he certainly deserves being hung with the loss for today’s game. Greg just couldn’t find the strikezone consistently, or really, at all today en route to regressing quite a bit from his recent progress, …

Manny’s Boston exit conjured images of Bonds (SFGate Sports: Oakland A's)

Posted August 2, 2008 at 12:00 am

It would seem the party is now officially advancing without Barry Bonds, and that’s a shame. In a trading-deadline frenzy built around entertainment value, Bonds would be the perfect choice for some desperate team. The Dodgers picked up Manny Ramirez for two…
